Safeguarding Policy​

We are committed to creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive online learning environment. This policy outlines how we protect students—especially children and vulnerable individuals—from harm, abuse, neglect, and exploitation.

This policy applies to:

  • All students, especially those under 18

  • Parents and guardians

  • Staff, tutors, contractors, and volunteers

  • Any third parties interacting with students via our platform

3. Guiding Principles

 

  • Zero tolerance for abuse of any kind

  • Child-centred approach that prioritises safety and well-being

  • Transparency and accountability in all safeguarding practices

  • Compliance with Hong Kong’s Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance and international child protection standards

4. Staff Responsibilities

 

All staff and tutors must:

  • Complete safeguarding training annually

  • Follow our Code of Conduct when interacting with students

  • Report any concerns or incidents immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)

  • Maintain professional boundaries and avoid private communication with students outside approved channels

5. Protection of Children

 

  • Parental or guardian consent is required for students under 18

  • Tutors must avoid one-on-one unsupervised sessions unless explicitly approved

  • All virtual classes are monitored or recorded for safety and quality assurance

  • Any inappropriate behaviour or content must be reported and investigated promptly

6. Reporting and Response

​

  • Concerns can be reported via email, phone, or our secure online form

  • The DSL will investigate and take appropriate action, including notifying relevant authorities if necessary

  • We maintain confidentiality and protect whistleblowers from retaliation

7. Online Safety Measures

 

  • Secure platforms with encrypted communication

  • Age-appropriate content and moderation tools

  • Clear rules for student behaviour online

  • Guidance for parents on supervising their child’s online learning

8. Recruitment and Vetting

 

  • All staff undergo background checks prior to hiring

  • References and qualifications are verified

  • Tutors must sign a declaration of commitment to safeguarding principles

​

9. Policy Review

 

This policy is reviewed annually or when significant changes occur. Updates are communicated to all stakeholders.
